NAPLAN

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Year 7 and Year 9 students will be undertaking a practice session tomorrow (Thursday 21 April) in Lesson 1 (Year 7) and Lesson 4 (Year 9). This will assist students with becoming familiar with the online platform, venue and other important requirements for the Week 4 NAPLAN tests. Students must ensure their laptop is fully charged and will need to bring their own set of wired headphones. Bluetooth or wireless headphones are not compatible with the lockdown browser.

Dates for NAPLAN tests are as follows:

  • Tuesday 10 May – Year 7 Reading (Lesson 1)
  • Tuesday 10 May – Year 9 Reading (Lesson 3)
  • Wednesday 11 May – Year 7 Writing (Lesson 1)
  • Wednesday 11 May – Year 9 Writing (Lesson 3)
  • Thursday 12 May – Year 7 Conventions of Language (Lesson 1)
  • Thursday 12 May – Year 9 Conventions of Language (Lesson 3)
  • Friday 13 May – Year 7 Numeracy (Lesson 1)
  • Friday 13 May – Year 9 Numeracy (Lesson 3)

Catch up sessions will be offered on Monday 16 May.

Thank you to the Parent and Caregivers who have communicated with the College regarding their child’s participation in NAPLAN.

Should you require further details, please do not hesitate to contact me - Rachele.Belz@tccr.com.au.

MISS RACHELE BELZ (ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL: STAFF DEVELOPMENT & FORMATION)

RACQ DOCUDRAMA

On Friday 22 April Year 11 Students will be participating in the RACQ Docudrama Road Safety program which educates young drivers and passengers about the ‘Fatal Five’ risk factors.  These risk factors are the leading causes of incidents and crashes on our roads. This presentation covers several proactive strategies our students may be able to use in potenatially dangerous situations to protect themselves, their friends and other road users.

The presentation will be held in Our Lady's Hall during Period 1 and 2.

MR BRETT LOUGHEED (CO-ORDINATOR OF YEAR 10 & YEAR 11 STUDIES)

COVID POSITIVE CASES AT TCC

The College wishes to advise you that, during the past week, we have been notified of positive cases of COVID-19 in our school community.

We regularly consult with the Catholic Education Office and relevant authorities, and continues to follow the advice of Queensland Health regarding cleaning requirements.

Queensland Health has advised that no quarantine of students or staff is required.

As COVID-19 remains active in our community we ask you to continue to monitor your child’s/children’s health and if they develop any flu-like symptoms:

  • Keep your child/children at home
  • Seek a PCR or Rapid Antigen test where it is recommended and notify the school of positive results. Please be aware, a negative COVID test does not change the requirement to be symptom free to attend school.
  • Follow the advice of Queensland Health

As we continue to navigate the pandemic, please remind your child/ren to:

    • maintain good hand hygiene at all times
    • cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or the inside of their elbow and dispose of tissues in the bin immediately.
    • practice social distancing from others where possible
    • wear masks when required

We will continue to work closely with health authorities to keep our school community informed of any developments and advice. Thank you once again for your ongoing support.
