NATIONAL DAY OF APOLOGY
This coming Sunday 13 February is the fifteenth anniversary of then Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, making an Apology, on behalf of all Australians, to our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The Apology expressed our national sorrow for the impact past laws, policies and practices had on our First Nations people, particularly the Stolen Generations.
As we mark the fifteenth anniversary of this very significant event in our nation’s history, we at The Cathedral College extend our respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and we commit ourselves each day to working together to promote justice and reconciliation.
CARMEN ANDERSON & RON TASKER (INDIGENOUS TEACHER ASSISTANTS / INDIGENOUS EDUCATION LIAISON OFFICERS)
MIDDLE SCHOOL
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Our Year Seven students have had a wonderful start to the new school year at TCC. The transition has been very smooth and I would like to commend our Year 7 students on the way they have embraced life at the College and in the way they have conducted themselves. Their respect for their teachers, each other and their learning opportunities here at TCC has been impressive. Later this week all Parents of students in Years 7-9 will receive an email from their child’s Core Teacher to help create a good relationship as we work together in this educational partnership. This Term 1 Core Newsletter will contain information about upcoming Year 7 Core Days and Parent Information presentations.
This week Safer Internet Day, #Playitfaironline, on Tuesday 8 February encouraged everyone to play it safe and fair online. Safer Internet Day is an initiative of the Australian Government’s e-Safety Commissioner. As the safety of all our students is our highest priority we encourage all parents to visit and explore the e-Safety Commissioner website https://www.esafety.gov.au/newsroom/whats-on/safer-internet-day-2022 for the latest information, strategies and legislation to empower yourselves and your children to make good decisions whilst online.
Thank you Parents for your wonderful support of your child and for continuing to stay updated with communications from the College.
God Bless,
KAREN LESTER - ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL: STUDENTS (MIDDLE SCHOOL)
