THE CATHEDRAL COLLEGE NEWS WEEK 9
COLLEGE NEWS
In this week's news we cover special academic achievements by Students, our Instrumental Music Program's success at the Queensland Catholic Schools and Colleges Music Festival, important upcoming events plus more. As our Year 12 students are in the midst of mock exams for their External exams next term, Year 11 students step up to the role of newsreaders. We hope you enjoy this week's Bulletin covering the big news stories of your College.
NAPLAN - INDIVIDUAL STUDENT REPORTS
This week students will receive their NAPLAN results in an envelope to bring home. The national test results represent a snapshot of a student’s achievement at a particular point in time. They are but one form of assessment used to measure students’ development and should be considered in relation to other aspects of school assessment. We are very pleased with the academic progress of our students. Further information about NAPLAN is available on the following website: www.nap.edu.au If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

NON-STATE SCHOOLS TRANSPORT ASSISTANCE SCHEME (NSSTAS)
The Non-State Schools Transport Assistance Scheme (NSSTAS) administered by QCEC, provides financial assistance to families transporting children to non-state schools in Queensland.
The Scheme’s Bus Fare Assistance Program (BFAP) provides a rebate above a threshold amount to eligible families whose students attend a non-state school outside the Brisbane City Council boundary. The NSSTAS Reference Committee have now set the Semester 1 2022 weekly family threshold as follows:
- $45 (up from $40 in Semester 2 2021)
- $35 concession* (up from $30 in Semester 2 2021)
*Applications who hold a current Health Care, Pensioner or Veterans’ Affairs card.
Funding for the program is capped for management purposes. Increased demand (due to enrolment growth, additional schools joining and increased bus fares) has resulted in the increased threshold.
Applications can be made online in May (for Semester 1 travel) and October (for Semester 2 travel). To find out more or check your eligibility, see https://www.schooltransport.com.au/.
