INDIGENOUS LITERACY DAY – GREAT BOOK SWAP
On Wednesday 1 September, TCC will be celebrating Indigenous Literacy Day by holding their first Great Book Swap. This is an initiative of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation to celebrate reading, and to raise funds to help purchase 35 000 new, carefully chosen books for children in remote communities across Australia.
There will be a table of books outside the library on Wednesday. If students wish to participate in the swap, they need to bring a book from home that is no longer needed. Once they give a gold coin donation, they can swap their book for another on the table.
There will be a range of books available, including books more suitable for younger children that our students may like to give to younger members of their family. This great activity not only encourages reading for our students, but also enables our students to help encourage children living in remote communities to love reading as well.
Any extra donations of money or books from home will be most welcome. For more information please visit the website below.
