Our Year 11 Maths Team comprised of Thomas Finnegan, Geordie Brosnan, William Canavan, Lachlan Andersen and Todd Williams blitzed the Senior competion (Year 11 & 12 ) at the Rockhampton Regional Maths Challenge winning first place for Year 11 and overall . Congratulations boys on a fantastic effort. Thank you to Mr Michael Andersen, Academic Dean of Mathematics for your coordination and organisation of teams across all year levels.

BEEF AUSTRALIA
Congratulations Beef Australia CEO Ian Mill and your team for raising Beef21 to reality, navigating through rough paddocks with vast uncertain horizons, ever hopeful the gates would open. We are very thankful this wonderful event has come to fruition showcasing Rockhampton at is very best providing many opportunities for our students and families. It also serves to remind us that hope, hard work, leadership and team work are quality brands, reflected in many of our families invested in the industry. Many of who are of part of our Boarding community.
It's been a pleasure catching up with families past, present and future at our trade site in the Sidney Kidman Pavilion.
In exciting news, our Show Team placed third placed across a 38 strong field in the Charbray Society School Team judging competition at Beef Australia. Congratulations Dawson Jones, Cody Mortimer, Tim Connor and Maddy Frankish. Our College Show Team will also lead the Grand Parade of Breed Champions on Thursday. Thank you to Terry Connor from Timbrel Cattle Services who has coached and prepared our Show Team for this significant event. Thank you also to our coordinator Mr Chris Lyons who has organised the students.

STUDENTS
NAPLAN ONLINE 2021 – NEXT WEEK
Next week Years 7 and 9 students will be undertaking NAPLAN testing. All students must ensure their laptop is charged. Students must bring a set of earphones (not Bluetooth) and two pens and two pencils (for planning and working out).
If students are absent on the day of testing because they are unwell or for any other reason, please ensure you notify the office as per the College’s normal procedure. If you would like your son/daughter to complete a catch-up test/s, please contact the College.
I encourage parents and care givers to visit https://www.nap.edu.au/ for key information pertaining to NAPLAN 2021. Students are invited to use the public demonstration tests to familiarise themselves with the type of questions and related functionalities available in the NAPLAN Online assessment. https://www.nap.edu.au/online-assessment/public-demonstration-site

MOTHERS’ DAY MASS
We will celebrate the gift of mothers in our lives at 8am Thursday 6 May at St Joseph’s Cathedral. I hope many Mums, Grandmas and other family members will be able to join us for Mass, which will be followed by morning tea on the deck at the back of the Mercy Centre.

CURRICULUM
Year 7 – 9 updated Assessment Schedules are now available.
Year 11 Unit 1 assessment schedule - Note that there is a change to the calendar and there is no exam block as most assessments are assignment based. Students have been told that they will need a medical certificate for any days absent during Week 5. It is not appropriate for students to take extra days off to complete assignments. Students are provided with a generous amount of class time to complete their assignments.
