CURRICULUM NEWS
Year 10 and Year 11 Term 4 Assessment
Assessment dates have been changed to reflect the change of finishing date for Years 10 and 11 students – 22 November instead of 29 November.

In addition, Week 8 has been changed to an Exam Block for both year levels. This means that students only need to attend school when they have an exam.

YEAR 7 AND YEAR 10 IMMUNISATION PROGRAM
The 2024 Immunisation Program will conduct its final clinic this Thursday 10th October.
On this day there will be catch-ups for students in Year 7, who didn’t receive shots earlier in the year. Year 10 Students will receive the second dose for Meningococcal B, or both Meningococcal ACWY and Meningococcal B if they missed receiving their immunisations last term.
Students who are receiving shots, will be withdrawn from normal classes for a short period of time to attend the clinic, set up at Boys Boarding.

PONYTAIL PROJECT
Our Seniors are getting behind fundraising for Cancer by participating in the Ponytail Project. Already they have amassed close to $12,000 in donations. On Thursday 17 October at first break “The Chop” will be happening here at TCC where 34 Seniors will offer up their locks to raise funds for essential cancer support services, prevention programs and lifesaving research.

CONTAINERS FOR CHANGE

SEMESTER 2 ACER TESTING
Years 7-10 students will participate in ACER testing in Week 3 as per the schedule below.
PAT data is very valuable to teachers in identifying students’ strengths and weaknesses in Maths and Reading. It is important all students do their best to give accurate data. This round of testing can also provide insight into students’ growth in Maths and Reading for the academic year.
Test results will be reported to families on students’ Semester 2 report card.

In other lessons on these days, learning will occur as per students’ regular timetables.
Students will need to bring their calculator, laptop and pencil case to their allocated test venue.

CULTURAL & INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
Last Friday night, the students who are active in the Cultural life of the College were presented their awards for their achievements. 146 students were awarded a Cultural Participation Award for their involvement in various Cultural pursuits, with 66 Bronze Medals, 14 Silver Medals, and 5 Gold Medals also awarded to the students who achieved at regional, state, and national levels.

SPORTS NEWS
On Tuesday evening we celebrated the wonderful sporting achievements of our students with our parents and friends. Congratulations to all students who received a Gold, Silver or Bronze award for State, Regional and Rockhampton representation. It was also a wonderful opportunity to recognise successful TCC Sports Teams who have reached top four in the state or higher. A special mention to our U13 Boys Touch team who were crowned State Champions at the recent Queensland All Schools Touch Champions where our collectively our Touch teams earned the College the Champion School title for the 6th consecutive year.

2025 SKI TRIP
All current Year 10 and Year 11 students have been emailed information regarding the 2025 TCC Ski Trip to Queenstown, NZ during the last week of September next year. If interested, please discuss with family and follow the instructions regarding payment of a deposit for this trip. More information including a detailed itinerary and payment schedule will be sent to families once students have been accepted on the trip.
