In this week's news we cover Bishop Michael's 10th Anniversary celebrations, feature the Interhouse Athletics Carnival and announce our latest Queensland player representatives.  Join Lucy and Colby for this week's edition.

COMMUNITY OF FAITH

This Thurday Morning Mass our College community has the opportunity to gather with Bishop Michael McCarthy to celebrate his 10th anniversary of being a Bishop and his close connection with our College.  Special visiting guest is the Apostolic Nuncio, His Excellency Archbishop Balvo who is the Vatican's ambassador to Australia.  We're looking forward to sharing this special Eucharistic celebration together and congratulating Bishop Michael on this significant milestone.  Please join us.

SCHOOL FEES ADVICE

Earlier this week all families were emailed the lastest communication Advice developed to inform our Catholic Education families of the new Federal Government Funding model (Gonski model) and the impact on funding for Catholic Schools.  Advice #2 outlines State and Federal Government responsibility with Non-Government school funding and how parent community Capacity to Contribute (CTC) shapes School Fees.  Advice #2 illustrates the relationship between the three funding sources in funding 100% of the School Resource Standard (SRS), and importantly explains how the total funding to Catholic Schools operates.

Parent Engagement Evening - Guest Speaker: Paul Dillon

Our Parents and Friends Association invite you to attend this term's Parent Engagement Evening on Tuesday 4 June commencing at 5.30PM in the Mercy Centre. Special guest speaker, Paul Dillon will present on drug and alcohol use in adolescence. Paul has been working in the area of drug education for almost 30 years. Through his own business, Drug and Alcohol Research and Training Australia (DARTA) he has been contracted by many organisations to provide updates on current drug trends, as well as advice on alcohol and other drug issues. He continues to work with many school communities across the country to ensure they have access to quality information and best practice drug education.  We’re looking forward to our parents gathering in the Mercy Centre for this online presentation.
