CATHOLIC EDUCATION WEEK
We're celebrating Catholic Education Week (CEW) this week at the College. Our special events are the Middle and Senior School Assemblies on Friday 28 July and our Ryan House High Tea on Saturday 29 July.

SCHOOL FEES SCAM
Dear Parents,
This is a messgae from Catholic Education Diocese of Rockhampton about School Fees Scam.
Keeping our students and families safe is of great importance to CEDR, and this extends to our families and their finances. We have become aware of several scam scenarios impacting schools in recent days, to include:
- Parents being contacted directly from a person/group purporting to be the school or fee collection agency, offering a discount on school fees if paid immediately. Credit card and invoice details are requested, and a series of deductions and refunds to fraudulent accounts occurs.
- Scammer obtaining card number from the dark web, scammer Bpay’s school an odd amount, then claims a refund from the school to a fraudulent bank account.
The following steps are recommended to avoid such scenarios occurring:
- Do not give bank account, credit card, Bpay details or invoice details to anyone over the telephone or email. Contact the school directly to verify advice.
- If an unknown amount appears in your bank account, refer the payer back to their own bank to lodge a formal trace and recall of funds. Do not refund. This is the only secure way of confirming the ownership of any payment made, and guaranteed return of a payment back to the account it came from.
Thank you for your attention to this.

2023 NAPLAN REPORTS
The College is preparing hard copy reports of student NAPLAN results for distribution. These will be given to students who participated in NAPLAN next week. Boarding parents will receive their child’s report via post. Students who did not participate in NAPLAN will not receive a report.
The most significant change to NAPLAN reporting is the use of 4 proficiency levels across the 5 domains.
- Proficiency levels: Needs additional support, Developing, Strong, Exceeding
- Domains: Reading, Writing, Grammar & Punctuation, Spelling, and Numeracy
An explanation letter, provided by QCAA, will be included with the individual student report.
Additional resources to support families with understanding the NAPLAN results are:
The College is developing resources to build the capacity of all students’ literacy and numeracy skills in response to these results.
Should you have any questions regarding NAPLAN, please do not hesitate to contact me.
