CATHOLIC EDUCATION WEEK
We're looking forward to celebrating Catholic Education Week (CEW) next week at College. Our special events are the Middle and Senior School Assemblies on Friday 28 July and our Ryan House High Tea on Saturday 29 July. We are also delighted Mrs Claire Stitt will receive her state winner's Spirit of Catholic Education Award at the CEW Mass on Thursday acknowledging what a wonderful gift Mrs Stitt is to our College community and Diocese.

2023 NAPLAN RESULTS
The College has received student achievement data for Year 7 & Year 9 NAPLAN. Hard copy reports will be provided by QCAA in the coming weeks and the College will distribute these to families. Students who did not participate in NAPLAN will not receive a report.
Starting this year, NAPLAN reports uses 4 proficiency levels (no longer the 10-band scale) across 5 domains.
- Proficiency levels: Needs additional support, Developing, Strong, Exceeding
- Domains: Reading, Writing, Grammar & Punctuation, Spelling, and Numeracy

The College is developing resources to build the capacity of all students’ literacy and numeracy skills in response to these results.

Academic Awards
Our Senior and Middle School Academic Assemblies are the signature events of our Catholic Education Week celebrations recognising achievement in Semester 1. Congratulations to all students who will receive awards listed below. Parents, you and your guests are warmly invited to attend to share in your child's success.
The Assemblies will be held on Friday 28 July in the Mercy Centre and will also be live-streamed if you're unable to make it. The links to the livestream will be available on our website.
Senior School (Years 10, 11, 12 students): 9.45am – 10.30am
Middle School (Years 7, 8, 9 students): 10.55am – 11.40am

myQCE Competition
The myQCE competition is here! To help you #getacademic in 2023, you could win Sony Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones or a MacBook Air to four lucky winners, and you could be one of them!
This competition is open to Queensland high school students who are in Years 10, 11 and 12 with access to the Student Portal.

RYAN HOUSE HIGH TEA
Thank you to the families who responded with contributions of prizes to the Multi-Draw Raffle for the Ryan House High Tea. We're very appreciative of your generosity that will go towards making this event a success helping to raise student awareness of social justice issues. Funds raised from the High Tea will go towards Mercy Works. Mercy Works is part of the Sisters of Mercy in Australia and Papua New Guinea and works in partnership with vulnerable communities and local organisations domestically and in the Asia Pacific region. DUKE OF EDINBURGH AWARDS
A wonderful opportunity has opened at the school with the College recently achieving registration to conduct the Duke of Edinburgh Awards. The Awards are internationally recognised and offer students a way to explore their full potential and find their purpose, passion and place in the world through learning a skill, improving physical wellbeing, volunteering in their community and experiencing a team adventure in a new environment. These awards, open to those aged 14 - 24years, deliver a great sense of achievement and help develop invaluable life skills in setting goals and persevering to achieve them. Dear Parents,
Did you know you are able to advise the College office of your child's absence from school via Parent Lounge? This is another useful and convenient application of Parent Lounge and I invite you to review the "How to Guide" below to assist you with this. You may also like to take the opportunity to update your details should they have changed. Thank you for letting us know in a timely manner when your child will be away from school.

YEAR 9 CAMP
This year the Year 9 students will be attending an Outdoor Education Camp at Ferns Hideaway to enhance the holistic (physical, social, emotional and spiritual) development of our students.
There will be two (2) camps this year to cater for the Year 9 cohort.
Camp 1: | Year 9 Boys camp | Sunday 10 September – Tuesday 12 September |
Camp 2: | Year 9 Girls camp | Tuesday 12 September – Thursday 14 September |
The theme of the camp is TCC Survivor with the aim of providing all students with the opportunity to experience new and exciting activities in a safe, yet challenging environment. Survivor challenges will involve students working with House group members to complete a variety of activities. Camp activities include: camping, basic outdoor survival skills, canoeing, bushwalking, swimming, team building and problem solving.
Please find below a Camp Information Letter and the relevant Permission Forms. Payment must be made through Parent Lounge and forms completed and returned to the office by Friday 25August.
Year 9 students will receive hard copies of the forms and more specific details on group selections, tents/bedding, clothing and food requirements in the coming days.
