THE CATHEDRAL COLLEGE NEWS WEEK 2
COLLEGE NEWS
ANZAC DAY 2023
This ANZAC day we commemorated not only the soldiers long lost on the beaches of Gallipoli but the men and women of today, who continue to give of themselves and their lives for their nation. Out students were invited to represent the College in both the ANZAC Dawn Service and march in Rockhampton; however, we were proud to note the overwhelming number of TCC students that were seen at so many services offered throughout our region.
Four lines of green and blue stretched along the Rockhampton River Front, led most solemnly by our College Captains, Drum Major- Mr Brett Lougheed, and TCC Band, all of whom did an exceptional job at setting the tone for the students and teachers who followed.
With straight backs and raised chins, our students marched on. The sombre chime of medals worn proudly with every stride; a reminder of the lives sacrificed. The intense red of a poppy pinned against hearts; a reminder of the lives grieved. The gratitude, pride and respect offered through presence and time; a reminder that we will never forget. Not only are we proud of the many who took the time to pay their respects, but to the way in which our young adults presented themselves with honour, poise and maturity.
We thank all who were involved but most of all offer our heartfelt gratitude for those who have and continue to give their lives in the struggle for peace.
Lest We Forget.
