NAPLAN (Years 7 & 9)
NAPLAN testing is from Wednesday 15 March – Monday 20 March 2023 (Term 1, Week 8/9) according to the schedule below (note the change in test length for Reading and Numeracy). In other lessons on these days, learning will occur as per students’ regular timetables.
On Friday 24 February (Lesson 4), Year 7 students will participate in a practice test so they are familiar with the online platform and where they will be seated. They will experience the same environment for the actual testing period. Students will need to bring a set of wired headphones (not Bluetooth or wireless) to the session.
Date | Test | Length | Year 7 schedule | Year 9 schedule |
Wednesday 15 March | Writing | 42 minutes + instruction time | Lesson 1 | Lesson 3 |
Thursday 16 March | Reading | 65 minutes + instruction time | Lesson 1 | Lesson 3 |
Friday 17 March | Conventions of language | 45 minutes + instruction time | Lesson 1 | Lesson 3 |
Monday 20 March | Numeracy | 65 minutes + instruction time | Lesson 1 | Lesson 3 |
Year 7 and Year 9 students will need their own set of wired headphones for the NAPLAN test period. Wireless and Bluetooth headphones will not work with the lockdown browser. Students must bring their headphones each day of the testing period. It is vital students remember to charge their laptops each evening, to ensure adequate battery life.
If a student is absent for one or more of the NAPLAN tests, catch-up sessions will be available on Tuesday 21 March.

Should you have any questions about your child’s participation in NAPLAN, please do not hesitate to contact me.
