OPENING COLLEGE MASS LIVE STREAM

The College Mass will commence 8.45am on Friday 3 February 2023.

YEAR 7 - 12 INFORMATION EVENING

Dear Parents,

You're invited to attend the Year 7 - 12 Parent Information Evening on Tuesday 7 February 5PM - 6PM.   We're looking forward to welcoming you to the College and presenting key information to help build our partnership supporting your sons' and daughters' education.

Middle School (Year 7, 8 & 9) Core Class presentations will commence at 5PM in Core classrooms (listed in link below) followed by the Principal's Welcome in the library at 5.30PM.  Student Leaders will be able to assist you and show you where to go. 

Senior School (Year 9, 10 & 11) will commence with the Principal's Welcome at 5PM in the Library followed by the Year Level presentations.

NAPLAN (Years 7 & 9)

NAPLAN tests will take place from Wednesday 15 March – Monday 20 March 2023 (Term 1, Week 8/9). Students in Year 7 and Year 9 will participate as per the schedule below. In other lessons on these days, learning will occur as per students’ regular timetables.

In the coming weeks, Year 7 students will participate in a practice test so they are familiar with the online platform and where they will be seated. They will experience the same environment for the actual testing period. More information about the practice session will be communicated shortly.

Students will need their own set of wired headphones for the NAPLAN test period. Wireless and Bluetooth headphones will not work with the lockdown browser. Students must bring their headphones each day of the testing period. It is vital students remember to charge their laptops each evening, to ensure adequate battery life.

If a student is absent for one or more of the NAPLAN tests, catch-up sessions will be available on Tuesday 21 March.

    Academic Assemblies

    The Academic Assemblies will be held on Thursday 16 February.  Parents/caregivers and guests are invited to attend this event.   No RSVP is required.  See details below.

    Students receiving awards for their Semester 2, 2022 results are listed below. 

    Students should wear full school uniform (skirt or long pants option for girls).  Boys receiving awards are required to wear a tie for the event.

    YEAR 7 TRANSITION RESILIENCE PROGRAM

    Dear Parents of Year 7 students,

    We understand that adjusting to high school may be overwhelming for some students and as student wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do, our Student Counselling Team will be presenting the Transition Resilience Program to help these students feel more comfortable and to find their place here at TCC. 

    An invitation has been extended to all Year 7 students.  The program starts this Friday at first break in L7. Students are welcome to bring their lunch.  

    The program will run for several weeks and will cover topics to help students improve their resilience.

    TCC SPORTS ACADEMY

    The College is proud to launch The Cathedral College Sports Academy.   As a Catholic College that offers a broad and holistic educational experience the TCC Sports Academy serves to support talented athletes deepening opportunities for students to reach their potential.  Miss Anna Young joins our team in the role of TCC Sports Academy Coordinator and will work together with our Director of Sports Mr Mick Busby to bring about this exciting new development in TCC Sport.

    Interested parents, you’re encouraged to read the attached letter from Anna and information about our TCC Sports Academy.  As the program is scheduled to start as soon as possible applications close on Thursday 2 February.

    SAFER INTERNET DAY 2023

    Next Tuesday, 7 February is Safer Internet Day, a global event that bring together communities, families, schools and organisations from more than 200 countries to help create safer online spaces.

    The link below to the esafety commissioner website is an invaluable resource for parents to help protect and guide their young people whilst they are online.

    COLLEGE PHOTO DAY

    This Thursday is the Catch Up College Photo Session.    

    The photo booth will be open from 8am in Restaurant (Mercy Centre).

    YEAR 7 CORE CONNECT & HOUSE DAY

    Year 7 Students received a letter to take home about the upcoming Core Class Days and House Day on February 8, 9 and 10.  This is also on Parent Lounge for you to view.  Payment (which can be made on Parent Lounge) and Forms are due by Friday 3 February.

    YEAR 7 IMMUNISATION CLINIC - ROUND 1

    The 2023 Immunisation Clinic – Round 1 will take place on Wednesday 1 March for Year 7 students. Consent forms for this clinic were distributed with the information packs late last year. If you would like your son/daughter to attend this clinic, please complete the consent form and return to the College by Thursday 16 February. An electronic copy is attached if you have misplaced this form.

    On this day, students who are receiving shots, will be withdraw from normal classes for a short period of time to attend the clinic, set up at Boys Boarding.
